We are so excited that you have chosen to attend Texas A&M University. The next four years of your life are going to be very rewarding yet challenging at the same time. Fish Camp is your first step to diving deeper into the traditions Texas A&M has to offer.
Fish Camp is a four-day extended orientation program held at Lakeview Methodist Conference Center in Palestine, Texas. Students Arrive at Texas A&M University the day of their session and are transported to and from Palestine, Texas.
During the four days of Fish Camp, you will be placed into a camp led by 2 co-chairs and 24 counselors, who are all current students at Texas A&M University. Each camp is named after an individual who has impacted Texas A&M and given one of the seven Fish Camp colors. Within your camp, you will then be separated into a smaller discussion groups, or DG, led by 2 of the 24 counselors. The DG will provide you with a support system that will last through your entire college career at Texas A&M.
Fish Camp welcomes you into the Aggie Network by providing a dedicated and compassionate group of individuals who share the resources associated with the university. Our passion for serving the Class of 2020 and easing your transition to Texas A&M is our top priority. Ultimately, we hope that you, as well as every other freshman, will come out of Fish Camp excited and enthusiastic about finding your place at our university.
In order to register for Fish Camp, you must:
o Have an activated TAMU STUDENT NetID. Your NetID is different than your University Identification Number (UIN). If you have not already activated your NetID, click here to do so now. Fish Camp recommends that you obtain this well in advance of the registration date. *note that a Parent NetID will not work.
o Have medical insurance/emergency contact information.
o Have the date of your last tetanus booster, if this was in the past ten years.
Participant fee is $225 and is required at the time of registration. Full scholarships are available to help freshmen cover the cost of Fish Camp. Applications for scholarships will be included in the registration form online. Scholarships are given on a need basis.
If payment is received by Fish Camp, you are ineligible for a scholarship or refund of that payment to receive a scholarship. You will receive a scholarship notification on June 23rd, until then NO payment is needed until you hear from us.
